Personal

Hey! I’m Morgan, founder of Self Savvy.

and I’m so SO happy you’re here.

Because if you’re here, that means we most likely have a couple things in common and I’ve got a feeling we’re about to become fast friends.

Self Savvy is for you if you:

  • Want to keep learning and educating yourself. Where are my podcast and book junkies at?? Can’t stop, won’t stop. (but seriously, HELP)
  • You just need some advice or guidance you can trust for simple everyday things – like how to do your taxes or train your new puppy.
  • You have big career dreams but need some help to get there! My greatest happiness comes from helping others go after what they want most. I wholeheartedly believe that EVERYBODY can be and deserves to be wildly successful!

Who am I?

I’m Morgan Smith – just your average 26 year old girl with a serious passion for learning, late night chats, oversharing and juice. (yes, juice. plz send any & all forms of fruit juice to my P.O. box below, thank you)

But in all reality, I started this blog with a mission in mind. Self Savvy was born in the midst of a late night chat I was having with my two little sisters. It was around 2 am and I was halfway through explaining how credit cards work to them when my 21 year old sister looked at me exasperated and said,

“why don’t they teach us any of this in school?!”

And you know what? I remember having that exact same thought many times throughout college and even after I graduated.

Like when I got my first credit card was I using this thing right?? How did I build good credit? And better yet, how did I get to travel the world for free with all these points everyone was using??
Or when my husband and I first did our taxes together – is it worth it to pay someone to do our taxes for us or does TurboTax work just fine? Shouldn’t we be getting more money back than this?
When we first bought our little townhouse – was this a smart money move? How much would our down payment affect our mortgage? Could or should we qualify for these 0% down home buyer programs??

Now, please understand I am NOT trying to rag on teachers or education. I have had SO SO many wonderful teachers throughout my high school and college education. Teachers who have taught me serious life lessons and who I still talk to even now! I just think there should be some sort of required GE called ‘Basic Life Skills 101’ where credit cards, taxes, marriage, and puppy training is covered. (I mean right??)

So?

So I hope that you can benefit a little bit from Self Savvy and the things that we have to share! We try to keep things simple & easy. For those that want to learn how to best manage their taxes, but aren’t finance wizards. For business start ups that want to manage their own SEO. And for moms and dads all over the world who just need a little advice.

We hope you enjoy all that Self Savvy has to offer as we all strive to become #selfsavvy. Thanks for sharing and supporting our blog! For info on collaborations, writing opportunities, and more please visit our contact page.
